You and the dealer both start with 2 cards. One of the dealer's cards starts face down (the hole card). Each card has a value from 1 to 11. Cards with numbers have the same value as the number on the face. cks, Queens and Kings are 10. Aces are 1 or 11. The point total is the sum of all the cards in a hand. If it is greater than 21, it busts. If you bust, you always lose, even if the dealer busts. The hand with the highest point total that doesn't bust wins. If you win, you are paid out with a ratio of 1:1. blackjack occurs when a player has 2 cards that total 21. If you have blackjack and the dealer does not, then you will be paid out with a ratio of 3:2. If both you and the dealer have blackjack, then it's a push and you don't win or lose any money.

Here are the options you have for playing your hand:
Stand: Stop taking cards and let the dealer play his cards.
Hit: Take another card from the deck.
Double down: Double your bet, take exactly one more card from the deck, and then stand.
Split: If you have two cards with the same rank, you can split your current hand and play two hands, with two bets. Each card from the old hand will be the first card of the new hands. You can split multiple times.
Surrender: If the dealer is showing an ace or a 10-point card, you can surrender before he checks his hole card. You will lose half the money you bet.
Insurance: If the dealer has a potential blackjack, before he checks his hole card, you can purchase insurance against the blackjack for half your initial bet. If the dealer has blackjack, you will win the insurance bet with a payout of 1:1.
